Whose Blog Is It Anyway? #7

February 19th, 2007 at 12:49 am by The Missing Link

It’s that time again! Last I reckoned, I had completely satiated the mob’s requests by doing the story of the Ikana as well as Vaati in Whose Blog? #5½ before that. So I think I’ve got a clean slate, at least for now. But now it’s your turn! There’ll be no restrictions this time, so lay your worst on me. What do you want to see?

How about an article about everyone’s favorite nemesis: Dark Link. In the Adventure of Link he was tough as nails to beat and in Ocarina of Time he was definitely the icing on the cake of the Water Temple. I haven’t played Four Swords Adventures so I don’t know what kind of enemy he was in that title.
Also there was this one rumor that you could get the Triforce in Ocarina of Time by playing Zelda’s Lullaby or the Song of Time right before giving Ganon the final blow. Then, you had to reset the console or warp yourself out of the final battle. And finally in your house Dark Link would be waiting for you and give you the golden triangles on a golden platter.
Now this sounds like crazy talk: you cannot obtain the Triforce in Ocarina, but it shows that Dark Link is a character that is still surrounded by mystery.

yes, Dark link would be good, i’ve really liked him ever since i read eloze :) he needs his own game

*thinks about Shadow the Hedgehog* I can see it working. Yeah, a metafiction on Dark Link would be good. As for an article, we should discuss why people still talk about getting the Triforce, even though getting the triforce without hacking the game is as vain as finding the Fountain of Youth in Florida (everyone knows it’s in the city Detroit.) Hey TML, if it’s a Whose Blog 7, whatever happened to #6?

I hope to god Dark Link never becomes like Shadow the Hedgehog.

    Yeah, I second that.

ok… what happend to shadow the hedgehog… :? i never played that game

I want to see something about the 4th dungeon in TP. But of course no spoilers so… How about Phantom Ganon and Aganihm, Ganon’s sidekicks? Think about it, they both even used the same attack. One was kicked into between dimensions, ecaped into Termina, got an awesome sword, and still served his master later on. Some even suggest that WW Ganondorf was a Golem, sent through by Ganon. That would be pretty interesting.

SO I guesss that means the EVIL FISH OF DOOM(TM) is finally open? GOD PRAISE GYORG! mwahahahahahahaha, I mentioned the evil fish of doom! What you gonna do about it? Huh? Huh?

Nah, I’m just messing with ya. Let’s go by with Dark Link, I mean, he IS supposed to be link’s shadow, and, in a way, Link’s dramatic foil. Maybe we could even go out on a limb here and say that Dark Link is a spirit representing the dark and blloody past of Hyrule… Pity he didn’t show up in the shadow temple :/

Oh well, I guess the water temple’s mirror acts as a sort of revealing eye, because the whole thing looks like one big mirage with mirrors. Which to me, opens a whole plethora of possibilities…

Too bad he didn’t appear in TP. Or did he? (I haven’t played enough to find out… not enough time…)

Meh, Even though I’m outvoted, I say we examine the Irony that Link, a boy who herds goats for a living, who would naturally hate wolves, becomes one. Something that is hated by all of Hyrule…praised as a man, scorned as a beast…seeing both sides of all of Hyrule, the loving and hating sides…really makes you think…

Deep thinkers of the world UNITE!

But Dark Link sounds good too. *shrug*

Or you could do the Evil Fish of Doom(tm). ;D

I’d love to see a ‘Whose Blog’ about DarkLink. He deserves far more game time thatn he actually gets. T_T
But yeah I’d like to see what spin you would put on it.

There’s really not much to dark link, he’s an evil mirror of Link, created various times and then defeated. Outside of fights, he either doesn’t exist or waits for Link in a room. That’s about it. For favorite Zelda nemesis, my vote would definatley go to the Moblin Lord from TP (no spoilers, its just a name).

I think an article on the music of zelda would be deserving. As we all know, the power of music in Hyrule is extraordinary, it can dissolve blocks, facilitate international diplomacy (Darunia in OoT), change the time of day, and even manipulate time itself (OoT, MM, OoA).

I also wouldn’t mind a huge blowout on one of the most interesting of the series, Link’s Awakening. What actually did happen? Did Link dream the whole game? Did he somehow enter the existing dream world of the windfish? Was Marin’s longing to see the world so strong that it made her real and able to escape, even if she was a dream? Many may disagree with me, but I say this title was even more intriguing than Majora’s Mask in overall quarkiness and mystery.

Other potential topics: Zelda’s influence on other games, Who the heck is that old man, and something I can’t say because of TP spoilers, but it deals with how the appearence of something in the game kind of debunks a major plot point in WW. Man I wish I could explain it.

Sorry for the long post, I just love these articles.

Yeah, it does. Especially since you can’t even use the ocarina in a boss battle. But, a Whose Blog? about what would happen if the Triforce was finally found in OoT. Wow…that would cause an uproar…especially since Nintendo said themselves that it was impossible to-…maybe… OMG!!!!!! Nintendo said that just so that the many youngsters out there wouldn’t be looking for it! They made it TOO hard to find it…well, if that’d be the case, I’d be crying…for a very long time…(*sniff* I miss my OoT T_T)…

Anyway, why exactly is the Evil Fish of Doom(tm) banned? I want to knoooooooooow!!!!!!!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase tell meeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!! But, well, yeah…why?

On a side note, the Dark Links and their connection could prove to be very interesting…well, that’s it. I’ll let you decide for yourself as the great moi I have no more ideas. Goodbye :D

Go to Hyrule Castle Town as a kid in OoT. By the Bombchu Bowling, there is a NPC in a blue dress. Normally, in OoT, they reuse NPC’s. She doesn’t come back to Kakiriko 7 years later. She’s not in Majora’s Mask. What about her?

Now I wouldn’t mind that one bit :)

I have lots of topics from Twilight Princess, but they’re spoilerific. That said, I wouldn’t mind hearing your take on Dark Link - I personally don’t see him much more than a boss/mini boss that’s really just kind of…there (lots of fanfiction has attempted to give him a backstory, though I don’t find any of them convincing).

Otherwise, I’d like to hear about Agahnim, Flute Boy, or the Dark World from ALttP.

not a fan of him ehh? :) read eloze then you’ll like him for sure ^_^

I would like to hear an article about dark link.hes probably the coolest bad guy in zelda…and he really contributes to your “questions are better than answers” article TML :P .

he should have still been in the shadow temple…a room that stands out from the rest is a perfect place for a big battle to be held (dark links mirror room is no exeption ;) ).

    actually,hes just not…shadow link is :P .

Now that I think about it… Dark Link should have been in the shadow temple as well. They could have made it into a two part fight. Part I in the Water Temple, and Part Two in the shadow temple. Acually it would have made a LOT more sense if Dark Link had been the boss of the shadow Temple. It would have also been really cool too. And a little weird…

Or we could even have had Dark Link as a miniboss in there as well, and he would be part of he shadow that came from the well…

Well since it seems like it is DarkLink, and there isn’t really anything about him, it looks like, TML, that you are gonna have to do a meta-fiction.

I would like Whose’s Blog on Zant. I wonder if he suffers from Multiple personalities because he’s so serious….until you fight him that is. I think he’s a very interesting character.

Well, in AoL, he’s Shadow Link, the final boss of the whole game (I think the story says he’s Ganon in the form of Link’s Shadow) then in OoT, he returns as Dark Link. Sure he is a sub-boss, but he rocked! In FSA, Shadow Link makes a return, with thousands of his annoying clones. They had reduced S.L. to a sub-boss, a bomb expert ( ;) ;) ) and an annoying enemy. This clone of Shadow Link is annoying, rather than cool. I also read Eloze, very good book (can’t wait for the next book) and the author did great giving Dark Link a personality.

I vote for Dark link. Maybe a meta-ficton on him..

It sucked. It was a lousily made sonic game (though it has the best intro song by far of almost any other game, specially when you turn the lyrics around a bit) where you play as shadow, and he uses guns more than anything else. It was basically a really bad 3rd person shooter/platformer.

I want to know what would happen if all the final bosses and extra-tough bosses of zelda got together and formed an alliance, and they were all the dungeon bosses of one dugeon or another. Who would go where?

And this one just popped into my head. What could be done to make a Ganondorf battle much more better (than a key, its a drawring of a key.)

How about what fans would like to see in a Zelda game? What would be the perfect game? You know, storyline+gameplay+items+setting+characters… YOU decide!

Does the spoiler rule not allow a “Whose Blog?” about TP’s [TML: So noted. I’ll consider it.]? Maybe compare it to the Dark Mirror from FSA? This I’d really like to see…

Or how about a metafiction with Link as a pink bunny. Joking. What about a quirky items design article, where TML comes up with the wackiest items ever. Of course they’ll all be second to the deku nut but…

hey JediAnn Solo,be careful what you write…the spoiler rule is still in effect.

Man, i have been MIA for the LONGEST time! Sorry about that guys… Anyway…

i agree with the Dark Link people. He is a seriously misunderstood guy, I think. Pose questions auch as, where did he come from? Did anything particularly interesting happen to him when Link killed him? Those sorts of things. Jumanji Shishioh brings up some good points, too. I just think there could be so much mre to Dark Link than everybody assumes on the surface. I mean, in Zelda II he was THE boss to beat the game–a form of Ganon too.

Or, if we’re going for humour here, do a metafiction about him. Havent read one of those in a while.

Dark Link wasn’t Ganondorf in AoL, he was Link’s dark side brought forth by the old man to test if Link was worthy of the Triforce. As for Personality, I havn’t read much fanfiction. It sounds like I really need to read Eloze. Also, Dark LInk from Four Sword Adventure is an entirely new entitiy created by the shadow mirror, not the OoT/AoL Dark Links.

Just thowing this out there, How about the happy mask salesman, there are many a question one could ask surrounding him.

Well if you beat the game without dying you see an angel version of Marin at the end.

Also a shipping metafiction would be cool, or a metafiction about The Evil Fish of Doom™.

If we’re going to get TML to do an article on the Evil Fish o’ Doom ™ we should call it by its real name. I got it, and I’ll use it in a very annoying rhyme, like so:
    I was killed by Gyorg,
then my body was put in city Morgue,
then I rose to become a Borg

Hmm, why can’t we use Gyorg? I mean, Gyorg is just a giant fish in Majora’s Mask, annd in TWW, it is an annoying monster (especially around Tingle’s Island 0.0

Don’t worry; this one isn’t a yellable offence. I should have mentioned to submit spoiler Whose Blogs over E-mail rather than direct commenting, but… I didn’t, so that’s my bad.

    It is so noted, however.

Interesting ideas about Dark Link… as for the bizarre OoT Dark Link / Triforce rumor, that’s just basically like AoL, isn’t it? You’re about to get the Triforce when that weird little man splits your shadow from you into Dark Link; after defeating him, you get the Triforce. Why would you get it there and not in the Water Temple in OoT? It’s weird… I’d like to see something about that.

Or, an AU where Dark Link DOES become like Shadow the Hedgehog. XD

Shadow the Hedgehog is my first Sonic game, and I thought it was kinda cool. A game about Dark Link would rock more than Twilight Princess (I swear by Farore I am not kidding)and the bad guy would be… someone new. What is an AU?

An AU is a story in which the characters from a game (or book, movie, etc.) are in an “alternate universe.” Most–but not all–of these stories are silly, or make the characters horribly, horribly unlike themselves… so having Dark Link be Shadow the Hedgehog would fit into an AU story. It would be completely bizarre. :D

I second the person who suggested talking about the symbolical theme of Link being a wolf. No offense to the Dark Link people, but I feel that particular miniboss gets way much more credit that is due for it. Yes, it. I mean, nobody goes on about the motivations of Big Octo, or the Fire Dancers, or any other miniboss. It’s Link’s evil clone, it never even speaks in canon*. There just doesn’t seem to be much to go on about.

    * Yes, I am aware the manga exists. But in game = canon, not manga.

Ahhh, all this talk of Dark Link brings back old memories of Eloze, as well as Indie Zelda’s comic/story Only Half. Meeeemories!

How can a fricking animated shadow be misunderstood? All he ever does is try to kill you, that not misunderstood. Misunderstood is Haku, Zabuza, Gaara, and Anakin Skywalker.

I care. :P And as Shinigami Ninja said, there’s not much to be misunderstood about Dark Link. All it ever does in the game is try to kill you. It isn’t like you can try and reason with it.

Sorry to all the DL fans, but I’m just sick and tired of seeing Dark Link portrayed as this emo dark anti-hero who is just misunderstood and all he wants from the world is some wuv (which often ends up coming from Link). Good grief, not everything needs to be so cliché. I want to see something new. Something fresh. Heck, I’d try writing something myself if it would get accepted!

I do agree with Dark Link… kinda. I really wish he was more canon than he is becuase I think he would be a very complex character if he were.

Hey, I just thought of something.

Since Dark Link isn’t canon, maybe we can have an article that people can post their own description of Dark Link, like his own background and everything since Zelda is really based on creating your own personifications for different characters in the game. Just sayin’.

Oh, and if you think that The Evil Fish of Doom ™ will get a Whose Blog?, you’re insane. I deeply feel a Wallet Monster lurking towards this thread.

BTW, if you make the & sign and type “trade” (no quotes) right after it and put a ; next to it you will get the ™ symbol.

I feel ignored, I was expecting people to be talking about my little rhyme. Gyorg isn’t that hard if you fight him as Fierce Deity Link. Revenge is ours, muhahahaaa! Sorry about that, anyways, gyorg is an annoying boss, but he is more of an annoying enemy in TWW. What if, Ganondorf put Dark Link in the battle field with Gyrog, and the two fought to the death! Also, octoroks are annoying, plus that big octo in OoT all ways give me a hard time, so no fiction for it ^_^

Gyorg isn’t that hard if you fight him as Fierce Deity Link. Revenge is ours, muhahahaaa! Sorry about that, anyways, gyorg is an annoying boss, but he is more of an annoying enemy in TWW.

actually,I still had a hard time beating him with oni link :o ! the stupid thing hides too much.also I have to agree,he is worse in TWW.only because he has such annoying tactics.he knocks you out of the boat, bites at you,and to make things worse it always happens during a storm.

You are supposed to jsut ignore them, if you speed ahead, they can’t hurt you.

they catch up :’( (that and it gives me a bad feeling when im being chased) .plus, like I said, they always come during storms…chances are you’ll land right by one of them after you go through the mini cyclones, the only alternative being dodging the cyclones which would mean going by the stupid things.to tell the truth they dont hit me that much,it just makes you feel pressured, thus the reason they are annoying :? .

even though an article about dark link would be much more interesting, maybe you could do something about this one part in FFI.when your in elfhien (the aptly named town of elfs) you can check a gravestone (in a three person graveyard :? ) and one of them says “here lies link” .now since its not in zelda its really nothing to consider as canon (unless you count what the people at nintendo say as canon) but I thought it was kind of interesting (and shocking since my warriors name is link :o ! ) .

or you could do a metafiction about tingle and that snake mark thing on his back :P .who knows? it might change peoples opinions of him ^_^ …for better or for worse I cant say.or a metafiction about the evil fish of doom(tm) and what made you hate him so much would probably be funny :D .

I want to see something about the 4th dungeon in TP. But of course no spoilers so… How about Phantom Ganon and Aganihm, Ganon’s sidekicks?

This always bugs me. Wasn’t Aganihm actually Ganon under disguise. I’m pretty sure, an’ it always annoys me when people say he’s his sidekick. I mean, if he is Ganon, he’s as much a sidekick as Ganondorf!
But yeah, Dark Link sounds grood to me. O.k.? Grood!

You know how VOldemor is in that guys body in Harry Potter one? Its like that, and when you killed Agahanihm it revealed Ganon. So he was both a mesenger, an assistant, and a part of Ganon.
