First Paper Mario… Now Paper Zelda?

July 30th, 2006 at 12:42 am by The Missing Link

It’s now confirmed; all you naysayers who’ve been saying that 2D is better than 3D are just plain wrong.

Who could possibly say that having one these babies isn’t at least 10 times as cool as a mere 2D Zelda poster, hmm?

I found the link to this over at The Hylia. They’re currently highlighting a very talented individual by the way of Ninjatoes who makes papercraft models of people, vehicles, or whatever floats his (or her?) boat from various video games, TV programs, and animés. He’s made tons of models from the Advanced Wars series, Tomb Raider, Star Trek… and most recently, everyone’s favourite video game (or at least everyone who reads this!), The Legend of Zelda.

Currently, there are models of young Link, young Zelda, and Majora’s Mask. You can find the other finished models for both of them below. Each of the models are incredibly detailed, emulating the polygonal polyhedral models of the N64 characters remarkably well (as you can obviously see with your own two eyes). Even as bad as I am with hands-on activities, I am highly tempted to go steal borrow from my “sources” the materials needed to (attempt to) make these.

You can find his Zelda models here.

Somehow, I never cease to be amazed by what fans will come up with. Next thing you know, people will be modding the GameCube in an attempt to make it portable…

Oh wait, someone’s already done that.

Wow. Just. . . wow. They’re amazingly detailed. Almost as if they were pulled right from the game. Even Link’s eyes are exact. Again, wow. I wish I had that kind of talent!

    Oh, at least 10.
I’m tempted to join you in your quest to “borrow” those materials. haha. These are like my dream come true. *has always loved oragami*

Wow, they ARE incredibly accurate. That’s cool.

A friend of mine made Link out of those colorful, fuzzy straws…*can’t remember the name at the moment*…pipets? It was rather cool actually.

But these papercrafts just own. Period.

I know some people call those pipe cleaners.

I’ve made one of those, and it’s currently sitting on my desk already. It’s pretty neat, and was hard to make.

Wow… damn man and I thought I was a big time Zelda fan, those things are damn cool and are beyond the abilities of most of us humble mortals.

*stares at the with caution* It’s like they could just rear up and grab you *tilts head in curiosity* That is really good, maybe they printed all sorts of stuff from the computer, and took their time with their seemingly dextrous handiworkiness and made these incredible pieces of art. I’d like for them to take this challenge, to make a stature like that, only of TP Link, TP Zelda, and Midna. That will be worth some money. I’d say in Hyrule, 10,000 Rupees, here on Earth (in reality) I’d say a pretty good amount of money.

Holy *Navi*, it looks like they pulled the straight out of the game! That’s insane… a beautiful insane.

I just made majoras mask, and it’s awesome. Took a long time to make, but it was worth every second. What I’d really like, though, is one of Epona. Now that would be priceless.

That’s pretty cool. You have to admit, it takes talent to make one of those. 2 thumbs up! :D

That is freaking cool. I wish I could buy one.

    *stutters and fumbles with words*
Wow now that deserves a Pizza.

    Not a pizza, my friend, but a party that is like the 4th of July and Thanksgiving combined. I would like to make one, but I can’t even fold a piece of paper straight ;_;

Wow, he is very patient and very talented. I wanna make a Majora’s Mask - it’s the easiest and is very… practical… for taking over the world…

To Scepia: If you want to take over the world, ok, but TML and I are your enemies :D I happen to be the closest, though ^_^
To Subject: I wonder if he will move to Ganondorf, or Epona, or even Navi.

That would be the correct name for them. Besides, I now remember that pipets are those little plastic tubes you squeeze to put liquids in and out. *sigh* Oops. We made good use out of that Linker, he was the star in our Physics project :D !

I wonder how long it takes to make one of those paper models. Would take me days weeks MONTHS to do (considering my artistic ability and all).

    ooh! I want one!

I want one of every dragon :D And one of every famous Zora, Rito, and Sword (Master Sword, Four Sword, ect)

Its a very interesting approach to Origami!
