A recent press release from Nintendo revealed Tetris DS. Before you begin egging me for it being irrelevant, allow me to continue. This game will feature not only WiFi connectivity (the fifth game now), but also modes based on six different Nintendo franchises. These include Mario Brothers, Metroid, and of course, Legend of Zelda. Nothing as of yet as to how these popular franchises will effect the game. Although this game will still be Tetris at heart, Nintendo will be adding new levels of interactivity. Wi-Fi mode will allow people to compete in two-four player competitions. In a local wireless play, up to ten gamers can lay together… even on a single card. Like other Wi-Fi competitive games, players will be able to keep track of their points and compare to others online. Source: PGC Follow This Entry | Leave a Response | Trackback |

Not a bad idea. I’ve long believed that Nintendo should be doing this sort of thing with Pinball games rather than tackling one franchise at a time. But Old-Schoolers may recall that the NES version of Tetris had lots of Nintendo cameos at the end too…

I hope it’ll be something better than the new Tetris instant lottery here in Montreal. When I saw the TV commercial of it I felt so bad that Elorg approved that project.
But I have high hopes. I wonder what kind of gameplay will they come with to allow 10 simultaneous players…

Tetris is the perfect handheld game, playing it wi-fi and with various themes would be sweet (although I’d hope there was an original mode with the cool B type music) - provided I could pick it up for around £15 I’d buy it for certain, especially seeing as my original copy of Tetris isn’t compatible with the DS anymore.

How about a Zelda version of “Pac-Man”, you could have the Moon from “Majoras Mask” instead of the yellow cross-dressing blob thing.

Hm… If they’re doing that for Mario then I wonder what they’ll do for Zelda? Maybe Link fighting Moblins or something. Maybe you’ll have to get a certain number of rows or complete specific objectives to guide the characters through the level. Just hope they don’t use too much from AoL.

That would be a cool DS game.
